Support for Early Career Teachers

Early career teachers in a school meeting

Congratulations, you have successfully completed your teacher training year!

You should be very proud of your achievements this year. We know that the teacher training year is not an easy one, and that you will have gone through many ups and downs over the year, so do take time to reflect on your experiences and register how much you have grown and developed as a teacher.

The next stage in your journey is to begin your first job, employed as an early careers teacher.

This space is designed to support you in this transition and the documents within are all designed to enable you to:

  • remember what you have covered within your University of Nottingham Initial Teacher Education programme and talk about this with others
  • have discussions with your employing school so that they understand your starting point and know how they can best support you
  • maintain a relationship with the University of Nottingham School of Education so that we can continue to support you in your future career
  • plan your own professional development both as an ECT and in future years

Please take time to have a read through what is here and make sure you share it with your ECT mentor and tutor as soon as you go into your employing school.

We wish you the very best of luck for next year and hope we continue to work with you in lots of different ways in the future.

Best wishes
