Research Topic Exploring Nurses' Perceptions of (Im)politeness in Intraprofessional Communication: An Intercultural Study in Saudi Hospitals
Research Summary
My research explores the complexities of nurses' intraprofessional communication within intercultural contexts, with a focus on intercultural pragmatic perspectives. Specifically, I explore nurses' perceptions of (im)politeness, taking into account the diverse cultural backgrounds of healthcare professionals working in Saudi hospitals. The interaction between nurses from various cultural backgrounds can sometimes lead to miscommunication breakdowns, hindering collaboration and potentially risking patient care. By investigating perceptions of (im)politeness, my research seeks to identify potential barriers to effective communication and propose strategies to mitigate them. The aim is to uncover insights that can contribute to building trust among healthcare teams, caring for the emotional well-being of healthcare providers, fostering effective communication practices, encouraging productive healthcare environments, and ultimately enhancing the quality of patient care.
