Biography
I am a Teaching Associate in Applied Linguistics. I joined the School of English in January 2023. Prior to this, I was a PhD researcher and Teaching Assistant at the Department of Education at the University of York. I hold a BA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), where I obtained my TEFL qualification at Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la EducaciĆ³n (Chile). I also hold a MA in English Language and Literary Studies from Lancaster University and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of York. I have more than 10 years of teaching experience in primary, secondary and tertiary levels in Chile and the UK.

My research interests are reading in English as a Foreign Language (EFL), precisely extensive reading and reading motivation, engagement and interest. Also, my research revolves around EFL reading identity, including self-efficacy, self-esteem and self-concept. I currently teach on undergraduates and postgraduate courses in psycholinguistics, SLA and TEFL, and I supervise undergraduate and MA research projects.
Teaching summary
My teaching portfolio includes modules on psycholinguistics, second language acquisition and teaching English as a foreign language. I also supervise UG and MA research projects on topics revolving around foreign language reading motivation, foreign language learning motivation and language identity.
