Corporate Events
The Corporate Events team is part of Communications and Advocacy within External Relations.
The team manages a variety of high profile, reputational events for the university including the Vice Chancellor's Guest Lecture series, the Summer and Winter Civic Receptions, the Vice Chancellor's Medals ceremony and the portfolio of Honorary Graduates at Summer and Winter Graduation.
The team can also provide a sounding board to colleagues across the university who are organising events. Our ambition is to help the wider event management community across the university to deliver outstanding, reputation-enhancing events that support the university's strategy.
What is a Corporate Event?
There are three key questions that determine this:
- Is it cross-institutional? In other words, it is specific to a particular faculty, school or department, or is it university-wide in its reach and focus?
- Is it reputation-enhancing? Will one or more of the university's key stakeholder groups go away from the event with an improved impression of the institution as a result? Key stakeholders might include staff, students, funders, civic or community partners, businesses, policy makers and the general public.
- Does it have UEB sponsorship? Does it have the Vice-Chancellor's backing and/or the backing of another UEB member? Often the UEB sponsor will be directly involved in the event as the host, speaker or chair.
Can the Corporate Events team organise my event?
Across the University of Nottingham, hundreds of events take place every year. As a very small team, we can't organise all of them. However, we have created a Sharepoint site to share best practice and resources that will help colleagues across the institution to organise their own events. Whatever your role at the university, if you are organising events of any kind you are also welcome to join our Event Managers’ Community of Practice.
