This PhD project aims to reconstruct the Late Pleistocene climatic conditions of the presently arid to semi-arid southern Jordan; focusing on the Dead Sea and the Gharandal areas, and specifically to assess the changing importance of cyclonic, mid-latitude rainfall from the Mediterranean. A multi-method approach; including sedimentological, geochemical and chronological dating methods, is adopted in this project, drawing on data from different sources to integrate and provide a better understanding of the environmental changes.
