This course considers:
- The individual student’s clinical setting and their contribution to teaching and assessing in that environment
- Educational theory to enable facilitation of learning and application of assessment principles within the clinical setting
- Innovation, change and sustainability within education applied to the student’s clinical setting
- Reflections on their own personal learning and how this contributes to their professional development
- Dissemination of the outcomes of the student’s learning to demonstrate improvements in clinical education
Knowledge and understanding
- Express what they have learnt about the teaching of a particular specialist area and explain how this knowledge supports their professional practice
- Demonstrate their understanding of reflection in their development of teaching skills
Intellectual skills
- Examine the educational demands of their professional role in the light of national and local priorities and clinical requirements
- Critically review the significance of learning and assessment to their students and themselves
Professional skills
- Design an educational activity or improvement appropriate to their clinical setting, implement it and evaluate the impact
- Reflect on how this learning will benefit their clinical setting
Transferable skills
- Review their own learning needs with regard to further professional development within their field of expertise
- Analyse their professional development in preparing to disseminate this work
