The Chief Nursing Officer for England, Ruth May, has spoken of the importance of teaching leadership skills to student nurses and midwives, at a special European conference hosted by the University of Nottingham.

The EU funded European Junior Leadership Academy for Student Nurses and Midwives works to identify students with an aptitude for leadership and to develop future leaders in the nursing profession.

Ruth May was special guest speaker at the Academy’s International Summit of Nursing and Midwifery Student Leaders on University Park in Nottingham on Friday 10th May 2019. More than 100 nursing and midwifery students from 17 European countries and as far away as Canada, were on campus for the 2-day event to hear from local, regional and international nursing pioneers and share stories of their career journeys and leadership experience.
