The School of Health Sciences welcomed more than 40 colleagues from around the country to join them at the 2014 NHS Bursaries stakeholder event, held at our Derby Education Centre on 30 January 2014.
Adam Castle and Cheryl Card from the BSc (Hons) Nursing course, along with Kirsty Minns from the Bachelor of Midwifery course and Amanda Smillie from the Masters in Nursing Science course participated in the NHS Student Bursaries Website Workshop. The purpose of this workshop was to gather information from the users’ perspective which will assist NHS Student Bursaries in improving their website.
Eamon Kirkland from the BSc (Hons) Nursing course and Victoria Moss from the Masters Graduate Entry Nursing course joined the group for the second workshop of the day, the Student Forum. This was designed to get feedback on students’ views and experiences of the full Student Bursaries process. Adam said: “I know that things are not always easy, but NHS Bursaries do a really good job in difficult circumstances.”
Ian Bryson, Client Engagement Manager, NHS Bursaries said: “The students attending the student’s forum provided some excellent insight on life as an NHS Student and on accessing the services provided by NHS Student Bursaries. Getting this insight directly from our customers really helps us to understand what areas are working well and those areas which potentially can be improved. We were very impressed with the professionalism of the students who attended and really appreciated them taking the time out from their studies and placements to assist us in developing the Student Bursary Service for both current and future NHS students.”
