Exciting new virtual exchange across the Midlands

A group of staff from The University of Nottingham and Birmingham City University (BCU) have been awarded Cascade funding from The University of Nottingham’s Alumni. The fund is being used to develop extra-curricular virtual exchange activities between staff and student nurses at the two institutions.

The lead for The University of Nottingham Dr Fern Todhunter has highlighted the benefits of this project "Although both Universities are only separated by a short section of the M42 motorway, the two areas have contrasting cultures and communities. This will be a great opportunity to explore diversity and to find out about academic and clinical experiences. We have come up with an very apt title for our blog ‘An e-Tale of Two Cities.’

"The blog reflects our joint contribution in developing the site. To maximise on time and efficiency, we are using the Skype conferencing facility. This is a great way to move things forward, we are now holding discussions on the content of the virtual exchange site. Staff and students can log onto the blog to follow our progress and see how we unpack our decisions and actions. Exchanges and extra-curricular activities are popular amongst students and staff. The virtual exchange provides opportunities to combine academic activities and networking in an online environment."
