Nursing student wins the Alison Statham Award

Olivia

We are proud to announce that Olivia Copeland, a child field student nurse, has won the Alison Statham Award for nursing.

The award is made annually in memory of Alison Statham, a highly respected member of nursing staff at Royal Derby Hospital’s Maxillofacial Unit, who gave a lot of encouragement to student nurses and all learners.

Derby Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust staff are asked to nominate student nurses and one award is given to the winning student from both the University of Derby and The University of Nottingham. There were 15 students nominated altogether and Olivia was the winner for The University of Nottingham.

Olivia was nominated for her care and compassion in nursing a young person on a ward at Derby Children’s Hospital. Her nomination detailed the high standard of care and communication skills she had used. All of the nominations described situations of care where all students had been role models for peers and delivered an excellent standard of care.

Congratulations, Olivia!
