School Robin Hood runners are running for the toilets

Staff and students have united together to create a School of Health Sciences Robin Hood Half Marathon Team.

The team will be participating in the annual Ikano Robin Hood Half Marathon this September to raise money for the Dream Big Ghana charity. The Robin Hood Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 27 September 2015, the race begins at 9.30am and follows a new, challenging route this year. Help the School team raise money for a worthy cause by sponsoring them through their Virgin money giving page.

The School team comprises of Patrick Callaghan (Head of School), Jonathan Lamley (School Manger), Fiona Moffat (Lecturer), Virinder Lail (Marketing and Communications Manager), Linda East (Assistant Professor) and Penny Hogg (student). The team has been working hard to prepare themselves for the event by undertaking tough training regimes.

Dream Big Ghana is a charity operating in the Volta Region of Ghana, where several of our nursing students have undertaken their elective placement. The charity builds compost toilets in villages where there is no sanitation, making life more comfortable and generating great fertilizer for the sandy soil. Each toilet costs around £600 to build and serves 20 or more people.

You can help to support our team of Robin Hood Runners to exceed their target of £1200 (the cost of two toilets) for Dream Big Ghana, by sponsoring them through their Virgin money giving page. You can also support our team of runners by cheering them on at the race, further details of the race can be found on the IKANO Robin Hood half marathon page.

Let’s all get together and help to raise money towards a great cause!
