Biography

Rachel Bacon is an Assistant Professor in Adult Nursing and Deputy lead for Practice Learning for Nursing in the School of Health Sciences, University of Nottingham. Rachel has been awarded a Masters in Medical Education and Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and is a Fellow of Advance Higher Education Academy. Rachel is the lead for the Nursing Practice Assessment Document and project lead for the Electronic Practice Assessment Document. Rachel is the project co-ordinator for the PAN Midlands and East Practice Learning Group and the key liaison representative for the PAN London Practice Learning Group. Rachel has previously been the cohort lead for the Mentor Preparation for Healthcare Professionals Course and has a key interest in the development of the practice learning. Rachel now leads on the strategic development and implementation of the NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment. Rachel's clinical background and expertise is in Emergency Care where completed a Critical Care/Trauma Specialist Degree. Rachel continues to work in clinical practice as a Senior Primary Care Nurse in an Urgent Care Centre and she has a particular interest in advanced clinical skills and simulation.
