Interactivity: write and reveal

Children do a great deal of learning between the ages of 5 and 12 taking them from rather simplistic preschoolers to independent thinkers, starting to be capable of understanding complex issues. Learning and intellectual development is a gradual and continuing process, one that hopefully lasts throughout all of life, not just through childhood. There are many ways that children of this age learn. Try the exercise.

Factors that may affect brain development in childhood are; malnutrition, infection which may result in an acquired head injury, brain tumours and chronic exposure to stress hormones, a non-accidental head injury or severe neglect. Most children do not undergo these experiences and the years at primary school are often safe and secure, where learning is enjoyable.
