Incidence risk no sound image

Newly diagnosed cases of cancer: regional health authority of residence, 1994

spreadsheet imageDownload the spreadsheet and take a look at the figures.

You can see how crude incidence risk is calculated, by simply dividing the number of cases by the population.

This is then multiplied by 1000 to give incidence risk per 1000 per year.

Move the cursor over the England map to show the stats for each regional health authority

Incidence risk per year = no of new cases/population at risk

Incidence risk per 1000 per year = no of new cases/population at risk * 1000
