Inappropriate Use
While gloves are used as part of standard infection control precautions, it is important that healthcare staff do not use gloves inappropriately, such as when making a bed or assisting a patient with washing. Inappropriate use of gloves can increase the healthcare worker's risk of hand problems, such as contact dermatitis or, in extreme cases, latex allergy.
Any healthcare worker who experiences these problems should seek help from the Occupational Health Department.
