Glossary

TermDefinition
Blood glucose

refers to the amount of glucose in your blood. The glucose comes from anything you eat and drink.

Carbohydrates

are the body's main energy source. They are called carbohydrates because, at the chemical level, they contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.

DVLA

Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), a government agency holding driver and vehicle records.

Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia commonly referred to in this resource as 'Hypo' is a condition that occurs when the sugar levels in your blood are too low. Hypo's occur when blood glucose levels fall below 4 mmol/L.
