The purpose of a probationary process is to establish an employee’s suitability in a new role and to provide an ongoing period of support, evaluation and review. It is intended to provide positive assistance to help members of staff adapt effectively into a new role and into the organisation. If any difficulties and problems are identified during the period the University can give extra direction and support.
Probation schemes vary across the University and if an appointment is subject to probation, this will be stated in the letter of appointment.
