Visiting Lecturers

Definition of visiting lecturers

Visiting lecturers attend the University of Nottingham from time-to-time to deliver lectures on their specialist subject. They are working as suppliers to deliver a service that is specified by the University. They are paid a fee for those services and are not employed by the University.

Visiting lecturers are set up as suppliers and paid via an authorised claim form from the relevant faculty/school. The visiting lecturer only needs to be set up as a supplier once. Further information on how to check for an existing supplier record or how to create a new supplier, visit the UniCore SharePoint site (visiting lecturers – set up process).

When setting up a new visiting lecturer as a supplier, you will also need to submit a Non-Employment Status Application (NESA form). Once completed, this form should be emailed to: bb-self-employment@exmail.nottingham.ac.uk.

Once a lecturer is set up as a supplier in UniCore, a V1 payment form should be completed to ensure that any payments due are processed. Once the V1 form is authorised, this should be sent to: bb-nsp@exmail.nottingham.ac.uk for processing.
