Healthcare in the UK

The National Health Service (NHS) in England offers a residence-based healthcare system that is free to people living in the UK on a lawful and properly settled basis.

Access to healthcare in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland may operate differently.

Following the UK withdrawal from the European Union (EU), if you are a citizen from an EU country, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, living in, or moving to the UK, you should check the Government guidelines for information about healthcare services.

Healthcare and Immigration

If you are moving to the UK from overseas to stay for more than 6 months, you may be required to pay an immigration NHS surcharge as part of your visa application. Please visit the Government web site for further details:.
