Occupational Health
We work with a specialist occupational health provider, Optima Health, to help us look after our employees and students.
Optima Health are experts at understanding the impact of health conditions in the workplace and will work closely with line managers to make sure that they understand the roles at the University of Nottingham so that if adjustments are required, they can ensure they are practical and relevant to the role.
Location
The Occupation Health Service is located in Lenton Lodge on the University Park Campus (building number 2 (A2) on the campus map). Lenton Lodge is situated behind the University Swimming Pool at the back of the David Ross Sports Village.
What you need to know
The service is focussed on protecting the physical and mental health of all staff and students, which includes:
- Access to early intervention advice and support from a multi-disciplinary team which will include qualified Occupational Health Advisors, Mental Health Practitioners and Physical Rehabilitation Specialists
- Pre-employment checks – if you’ve been offered a job at the University, you’ll need relevant health checks
- Student post-entry vaccinations and pre-placement screening
- An easy to use web portal for managers and School leads who wish to refer staff and students to Occupational Health
- Advice for managers on an employee’s health condition and understand how they can be supported in the workplace
- A web portal for staff and students that will allow them complete forms online and view their Occupational Health history and reports
- Research passports – if you’re a nonclinical member of staff and want to carry out research in the NHS, you’ll need a research passport
Our specialist occupational health provider also works closely with the Health and Safety Team to support a safe environment for staff and students.
