Dr Klara Polackova Van der Ploeg publishes article on investor obligations and their interplay with the business and human rights framework

Dr Klara Polackova Van der Ploeg, Assistant Professor in Law and Head of the HRLC's Business, Trade & Human Rights unit has recently published a paper in the Business and Human Rights Journal titled 'Investor Obligations: Transformative and Regressive Impacts of the Business and Human Rights Framework'.

The business and human rights (BHR) framework has been transformative in grounding claims of corporate accountability for human rights abuses. However, the normative ambiguity at the heart of this framework risks regressing the progress made towards the same goal in the context of investment treaty reform. Dr Polackova Van der Ploeg's article explores investor obligations under investment treaties and their interplay with the BHR framework.
