Current Research
I am an Ancient Historian working on the religion and culture of Ancient Greece. Actively engaged in anthropological approaches and questions of religious psychology, I enjoy studying Greek Religion in comparative and interdisciplinary contexts. I am interested in the concept of soteria in Ancient Greece, and how it compares with that in Christianity. I am the author of the OUP monographs Saviour Gods and Soteria in Ancient Greece (2022) and Sharing with the Gods: Aparchai and Dekatai in Ancient Greece (2014). I am also the Principle Investigator of a Leverhulme Research Project on comparing Greek and Chinese polytheism.
