Professor Chris Loveluck's recent research into ice cores in the Swiss Alps has been featured in an article by the Guardian newspaper.
The article focussed on the levels of lead that can be detected from as far back as the times of the Black Death. It has shown that there is no "safe" level of background lead pollution, meaning that the current levels of lead in the air are manmade.
The Ice Core Project is being carried out by researchers from Nottingham, the USA, and Germany. To find out more, please email Chris Loveluck and read the Guardian article, '"We have been poisoning ourselves": has ice analysis revealed the truth about lead?'
