Sophoclean Spectacular

Professor Alan Sommerstein and Dr Patrick Finglass have both recently published editions of Sophocles. Professor Sommerstein’s (co-authored with Thomas Talboy) is an edition with commentary of selected fragmentary plays of Sophocles, published by Oxbow Books, the second in a series of two such volumes; the previous edition appeared in 2006. Dr Finglass’s is an edition with commentary of Sophocles’ Ajax, published by Cambridge University Press. This follows his edition of Sophocles’ Electra, published by CUP in 2007 and now available in paperback.

Both Professor Sommerstein and Dr Finglass are members of Nottingham’s Centre for Ancient Drama and its Reception. Their work on these editions was supported by awards from the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
