A recent review is a welcome opportunity to draw attention to Professor Doug Lee’s recent book in the Edinburgh History of Ancient Rome series. From Rome to Byzantium AD 363 to 565: The Transformation of Ancient Rome has been reviewed very favourably by Gavin Kelly for Bryn Mawr Classical Review. The reviewer’s ‘one reservation’ is that the confines of the series did not allow Prof. Lee to develop his views at greater length: ‘a fine achievement, but I wish it were longer.’
