New book by Katharina Lorenz

Katharina Lorenz celebrated the launch of her new book Ancient Mythological Images and Their Interpretation: An Introduction to Iconology, Semiotics, and Image Studies in Classical Art History with a panel discussion at the Morphomata Centre of Advanced Study. The discussion explored classical archaeology, the history of art, and the theory of signs.

Ancient Mythological Images and Their Interpretation looks at how theoretical approaches to images image the meaning we elicit from Greek and Roman art. She proposes a new framework in which to study ancient visual culture, guiding the reader through Classical images of myth and looking critically at Classical archaeology’s attempts to give meaning to pictures.
