Description

This year, to celebrate student music-making at the University of Nottingham, we would like to invite alumni who played in University Philharmonia during their time at the University to take part in a special ‘come and play’ rehearsal as part of the MayFest events on the weekend of 7/8 May 2011.

Conducted by the Sir Charles Mackerras Conducting Fellow, Jonathan Tilbrook, the repertoire for the orchestral rehearsal will be Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.5. The event will take place in the Djanogly Rehearsal Hall in the Music Department on Saturday 7 May, 2.30-5.30pm with the intention of running the complete symphony at 4.45pm.

We would be delighted to welcome Philharmonia alumni, along with current students, for this special rehearsal. There will not be a public performance but all alumni who are visiting the University for MayFest will be most welcome to come into the hall to hear the rehearsal taking place.

If you would like to take part in the Tchaikovsky rehearsal please could you RSVP to the Lakeside Music Assistant Maria Ryan email: M.Ryan@nottingham.ac.uk by Friday 8 April with:

On Saturday 7 May please arrive at the Djanogly Rehearsal Hall by 2.20pm in order to register your attendance and collect music.  We do hope that you can join us for this very special event and we look forward to welcoming you to the rehearsal on 7 May.
