Graham Fitkin’s 9-piece band treads the blurred line between classical and jazz in exuberant fashion. Combining piano, percussion, guitars, electric harps and brass section, this composer-led ensemble is characterised by infectious rhythms and a toe-tapping-groove kind of minimalism. The perfect setting then, for Fitkin’s latest work – a 1970s’ disco-inspired piece that welcomes the marvellous Melanie Pappenheim backed by two countertenors – with hints of soul diva and Bee-Gees irony.
