Nottingham has been recognised as one of the best places to study Music in the UK - according to the students themselves! The Department achieved an overall satisfaction rate of 92% in the latest NSS results, making Nottingham Music students among the most satisfied in the UK. Additionally, we achieved a remarkable 97% satisfaction rate for the overall quality of our teaching.
The 2012 National Student Survey (NSS) results have recently been published on the Unistats web site. The NSS surveys all final year undergraduate students in the UK to gather their views on the quality of teaching and learning on their degree.
The Music Department at Nottingham has seen a substantial increase in student satisfaction as a result of new initiatives put in place over recent years to improve the student experience. These have included paid internships and traineeships to maximise employability prospects, professional workshops and masterclasses in our world-class performance facilities, increased contact hours, and improved feedback mechanisms.
The Department is continuing to invest in new initiatives to further enhance teaching and learning, including the development of new multimedia composition facilities, advance ensemble performance coaching, and new 'Work Placement' and 'Careers and Future Skills' modules.
