We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Lonán Ó Briain as Lecturer in Music.
Lonán is an ethnomusicologist who specialises in the musical cultures of Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam, and has research interests in popular music, jazz and Irish music. He gained his PhD from the University of Sheffield in 2012 and has studied performance and composition at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Irish Academy. He is also a fine trumpeter! We look forward to welcoming him to the Department from 1 September 2013.
