The Department of Music is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Xenia Pestova as our new Head of Performance. Dr Xenia Pestova is an internationally renowned concert pianist, and current Head of Performance at the University of Bangor. She performs internationally at leading venues and music festivals, and has recorded a number of acclaimed CDs for Naxos and Innova. She is particularly well known for championing new music, including 20th-century classics such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and John Cage, and an array of contemporary composers, many of whom have written works especially for her. As well as conventional piano performance, Xenia is a pioneer in the creative use of new technologies, and in the commissioning of new works for the toy piano. At Nottingham, Xenia will oversee the development of new performance-related modules, including a new year 2 module in Ensemble Performance. Watch this space for further details!
