The University of Nottingham hosts renowned Austrian composer Karlheinz Essl

The newly-established Forum for Artistic Research at the Department of Music are happy to host renowned Austrian composer Professor Karlheinz Essl from the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. Professor Essl will visit Nottingham on an Erasmus+ exchange following the visit to Vienna by The University of Nottingham's Director of Performance Dr Xenia Pestova

The following events are free of charge and open to students, staff and the general public:

  • Tuesday 2 February, 3pm, Djanogly Recital Hall: open rehearsal (piano, toy piano and live electronics) with Karlheinz Essl and Xenia Pestova
  • Tuesday 2 February, 4:30pm, Djanogly Recital Hall: “The Chances of Chance” colloquium with Karlheinz Essl discussing his work
  • Wednesday 3 February, 10am – 1pm and 3pm – 5pm, Department of Music, electronic studio: composition, music technology and performance with electronics tutorials with Karlheinz Essl (open to all students, please contact Xenia Pestova to sign up)
  • Thursday 4 February, 10am – 1pm, Rehearsal Hall: composition, music technology and performance with electronics tutorials with Karlheinz Essl (open to all students, please contact Xenia Pestova to sign up)
  • Thursday 4 February, 2pm – 3:30pm, Rehearsal Hall: open rehearsal (piano, toy piano and live electronics) with Karlheinz Essl and Xenia Pestova
  • Thursday 4 February, 3:30pm, Rehearsal Hall: lecture-recital with Karlheinz Essl and Xenia Pestova (piano, toy piano and electronics).
