For Home Office online right to work checking service
For individuals with a digital status (eVisa), you can use the Home Office online right to work checking service: https://www.gov.uk/prove-right-to-work
It will not be possible to conduct a Home Office online right to work check in all circumstances. In circumstances in which an online check is not possible, you should complete a manual check.
Biometric Residence Card (BRC), Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) and Frontier Worker Permit (FWP) holders are also only able to evidence their right to work using the Home Office online service. This means we cannot accept or check a physical BRC, BRP or FWP as proof of right to work.
The recruiting manager should visit the following webpage: https://www.gov.uk/view-right-to-work.
To do the online check, the recruiting manager will need the following information:
- Share code provided by the individual: AAA BBB CCC (example only)
- Individual’s date of birth: DD MM YYYY
The recruiting manager should satisfy themselves that the photograph on the online right to work check is of the individual presenting themselves for work (this can be done in person or by video call). They should also complete a Right to Work Checklist alongside the check.
Documents required:
- Completed Right to Work checklist : This can also be found on the manager guidance here.
- ‘Profile page’ from the online right to work check
All photocopies provided should be endorsed with the following statement: “I confirm that I have carried out the right to work check on [insert date] in compliance with the instructions within and I believe a valid statutory excuse is established for this worker.”
Once the above documents have been returned to the HR Staff Immigration Team, our records will be updated accordingly.
What if I don't yet have the right to work in the UK?
If you do not have eligibility to work in the UK at the time of the interview, please provide a copy of your passport.
If you are successful for the post, you will be required to apply for UK work visa. Further immigration advice and guidance is available on our Immigration website.
