Foreword from Todd Landman

The Faculty of Social Sciences has over 10,000 students and 680 staff across seven schools, including Law, Politics and International Relations, Sociology and Social Policy, Economics, Geography, Education, and Business. Each of the Schools in the Faculty has a number of strong research centres and offer taught provision at all levels, including PhD training and supervision. The Faculty is part of the ESRC Midlands Graduate School Doctoral Training Partnership, home to the Rights Lab, a world leading research Beacon of Excellence researching how to end modern slavery by 2030, and in receipt of significant research income for fundamental research, applied research, and knowledge exchange. The Faculty is home to the award winning Impact Leaders Programme, has a well-developed Q-Step programme in quantitative social science, and has particular strengths in behavioural social science, public international law and human rights, security and intelligence, social work and social policy, economic geography and geospatial analysis, and education research.

The Business School is a vital part of the Faculty and is strategically important to the University as a whole. The Business School has 3277 students, 204 staff, and operates out of four buildings on our Jubilee Campus. In addition to its presence in the United Kingdom, the Business School has an additional 2943 students at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) and a further 658  students at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC).  Operating across three countries gives the Business School a unique position to understand the dynamics of international business and to provide truly global educational opportunities to business students. It also provides tremendous opportunity for collaborative research and knowledge exchange.

The role of the Dean in the United Kingdom is vital to the success of the School, the Faculty and the University. Leading such a large and complex School and working in partnership with China and Malaysia offer a fantastic opportunity for the Dean to drive success, lead innovation, empower staff and students, and promote truly international collaborations.

I welcome applications from dynamic, energetic, forward-thinking and innovative candidates seeking to make a difference in the world and wanting to lead a successful business school.
