Welcome from our Chief Financial Officer
Thank you for your interest in the post of Director of Estates and Facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the strategic development of one of the largest and most diverse estates in the Higher Education sector, with a portfolio that extends to 650,000m2 with 1,400 acres of land ownership and is growing.
We have some of the best people at our university and we enjoy fantastic campuses in three countries. We are committed to making a difference, changing life for the better in an environment that promotes the values of fairness, ambition, inclusivity, respect, and openness.
As Director, you will be joining a passionate team that has successfully developed a strong community. You will bring new ways of working and innovative ideas to how we do things, as well as continue to build on what we have achieved, making links with the rest of the university, and ensuring that your team are supported and feel valued.
Working closely with myself and the senior management team, you will play a key role in developing and implementing the Estates Strategy and Masterplan for the physical estate in support of the University Strategy.
You will be a strong strategic leader with a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams in a variety of estates and facilities functions, responsible for delivering high-quality and effective services from a team of professional staff within budgetary and resource allocations. You will be an enabler who delivers a shared purpose by creating networks with senior colleagues within the University and externally with consultants, suppliers and other organisations.
It is an exciting time to lead our Estates and Facilities Directorate as we have recently purchased the Castle Meadow site in Nottingham, at the foot of the city’s historically significant castle, realising a longstanding ambition to have a greater physical presence in the city centre. The Estates and Facilities team has a huge job to do both in development for the future, establishing our new city centre campus over the next two years, and in strengthening our foundations with a significant capital refurbishment programme – bringing all of our space up to standard and introducing a compliance mindset to what is done.
Covering an area of 32,000m2, the site includes seven iconic office buildings, which will be renovated to the highest standards of environmental sustainability. Renovation of the site will commence this year and will create significant opportunities to use the institution’s expertise to support the growth of the Nottingham’s economy, and help realise the potential, skills and ambitions of people across the city.
I am looking for someone to join my team that is values led, has a passion for people, is able to inspire and lead a large team to ultimately deliver for the benefit of the university.
Thank-you for showing an interest in the role.
