The role

 

As the Director of Research and Innovation, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the function and providing coherent and effective services to all key stakeholder and customers;
  • Directing and managing the budgetary and staff deployment, including financial planning and delectation of responsibilities;
  • Directing the operations of the function to achieve institutional objectives; including guidance to maximise research and commercial income to he University from public and private sector organisations;
  • Meeting annual targets for income generation;
  • Ensuring Nottingham remains competitive and following best practices in the sector;
  • Growing and developing the research and commercial initiatives of the University;
  • Sustaining and developing productive and sustainable links with partners regionally, nationally and globally;
  • Forging strong relationships with research, funding and investment organisations

 Leadership

  • Line management of the Division;
  • Effectively lead and manage all team leaders and approve operational plans for each team (including resourcing);
  • Establish achievable yet stretching targets and KPIs for all areas of activity and provide review against these parameters;
  • Maintain effective communication of Vision and Mission objectives to staff and ongoing professional development programmes to ensure a highly trained, professional team

 Strategy

  • Produce policy and procedures associated with support for the research and innovation activities of the University;
  • Work with senior officers to provide effective communication and implementation of University strategy, policy and procedures;
  • Develop new institutional projects for advancing our regional economic development;
  • Develop an integrated Enterprise strategy, bringing entrepreneurship, enterprise, and commercialisation together with precise and measurable outcomes;
  • Work closely with senior officers to develop and influence University strategy and policy for externally funded research
