Foreword from the Vice-Chancellor
At a time of unprecedented change in higher education, and in the wider world, the University of Nottingham is a truly global university, ranked consistently among the very best institutions in the world. With inspiring campuses in the UK, Malaysia and China, our vision is to be a university without borders, embracing opportunities presented by a changing world, and where ambitious people and a creative culture enable us to change the world for the better.
In 2004, we pioneered the first Sino-foreign university and established UNNC with a vision to be the best international university in China, to transform and enrich people’s lives, and to make a positive difference to the wider community.
19 years later we continue to deliver on these endeavours. We now have 9,000 students and over 900 staff studying, living and working at UNNC and we are developing an excellent reputation for academic quality and standards consistent with the University of Nottingham in the UK. This is the outstanding platform for our next Provost to build upon, with the scale and scope to deliver real impact for the future of the University in both China, the UK and beyond.
We now seek to identify an exceptional individual as our next Provost and CEO for UNNC.
The successful applicant will work with me and the University’s Executive Board to lead UNNC to the next stage of its development, contributing more widely to ensure the continued success of the University of Nottingham. With experience in academic leadership, in driving quality, performance and growth, the successful candidate will be able to create a distinctive vision, embrace opportunities and lead change. Resonance with the values of the university will be essential, as will be an ability to work across different cultures and with multiple stakeholders.
