What our research told us about poisonings in under 5 year olds...

    Safe storage

Do keep medicines and household chemicals at or above adult eye level, ideally in locked cupboards

Don't leave medicines or household chemicals within reach of young children

Do put away medicines and household chemicals straight after using them

Don't leave medicines or household chemicals around where children can get to them

    Why?

    • Because our research found that where families don't store medicines safely (locked away or above adult eye level) children are more likely to have to go to hospital because of a poisoning
    • Not putting away medicines and household products immediately after use was found to increase the risk of accidental poisoning in young children
