UK Fungus Day: Sunday 13 October

As part of a series of over 40 events throughout the UK to celebrate the first ever 'UK Fungus Day', members of the Life Science Fungal Biology and Genetics group joined forces with the Nottinghamshire Fungus Group to host an event at Bestwood Country Park last Sunday 13th October.

Activities included two guided fungal hunts (forays) around Bestwood Park, together with demonstrations of University fungal research and 'fun with fungi' family activities. Despite the weather, the event was well attended by members of the public and children were seen wandering around Nottingham afterwards with tell tale fly agaric balloons.

The event was sponsored by the British Mycological Society and the Society of Biology.
