From the mountainous vistas of Switzerland to the ancient treasures of Italy, these early tourists sought everything from culture and education to adventure and escape on the Continent and further afield – chronicling their experiences through diaries, letters, sketches and photographs now held here at Manuscripts and Special Collections.

6 September, 1pm-2pm
Join us for an exclusive look behind-the-scenes at Manuscripts and Special Collections, home to our unique collections - which span nearly a millennium, from the twelfth century to the twenty-first! In addition to discovering the treasures of our store, which is located in a former television studio, you will have the opportunity to view a pop-up display featuring a selection of items relating to the far-flung journeys taken by people from Nottinghamshire in the past.
These events are in-person only and will take place at Manuscripts and Special Collections, King's Meadow Campus, Nottingham.
