Laxton medieval village - new online exhibition

caption

New online exhibition - Laxton: Farming in an Open Field Village

The 'Laxton' exhibition was shown in the Weston Gallery, Lakeside Arts Centre, between April and August 2009. It explored the history of Laxton in Nottinghamshire, which is unique in preserving the traditions of open field farming, and included exhibits relating to farming in general before the mechanisation of the 20th century.

An online version of the Laxton exhibition is now available, presenting text and images from the boards, and a selection of exhibits from the cases. You can also see a video podcast introducing the exhibition, and listen to audio recordings of two of the lunchtime talks.

'Laxton' is just one of a number of online exhibitions based on previous Weston Gallery exhibitions. You can also explore subjects as diverse as the Archdeaconry of Nottingham ecclesiastical court, Icelandic literature, and World War II, in the Exhibitions and Digital Gallery section of our website.
