2017 Undergraduate Research Expo

2017 UG Research Expo

Wednesday 18 October saw the School of Mathematical Sciences building atrium transformed into a display area, showcasing some of the excellent work from the latest summer bursary students.

Every year selected undergraduate students have the opportunity to engage in summer projects funded by various bursary schemes including LMS, Wellcome, EPSRC, BBSRC, and the Dr M. Jackson Trust. This provides students with an excellent opportunity to be involved first-hand in academic activities and many of these students later apply for PhDs.

The event was a great success with over 20 undergraduate students who study Maths or are supervised by staff from within the School, presenting their posters.

Gerardo Adesso, Professor and Internship Officer commented "I am grateful to all the students and staff who engaged in the summer projects and in particular in the Expo, which had a great attendance as usual. I collected lots of positive feedback from the students, and was impressed with their enthusiasm and the quality of their work. More cakes next year, I promise!"
