Mathematical Sciences' very own Dr Steve Cox is one of this year's Lord Dearing Award winners. The award is in recognition of his outstanding contribution to enhancing the student learning environment at The University of Nottingham.

In particular, the Lord Dearing Awards Judging Panel noted the success of the Peer-Assisted Study Support (PASS) scheme that is built on his excellent reputation for engaging with students and delivering innovative teaching.

Dr Cox was also awarded a Vice-Chancellor’s Medal at a ceremony in October. The nomination for the award was again based on Steve’s work on setting up and running the PASS scheme.

When asked about the PASS scheme, he said: "I enjoy teaching with enthusiasm, especially the challenge of facilitating student learning of complex or abstract mathematical concepts. My setting up of the ambitious Mathematical Sciences peer-support scheme (PASS) this year has added a new avenue for student learning in mathematics, students' personal development and acquisition of employability skills.".

Congratulations, Steve!
