International Exchange Grant Success

Dr Gerardo Adesso has secured a Royal Society International Exchange Grant for collaboration with Dr Kavan Modi from Monash University, Australia. The scheme is intended to stimulate new collaborations between scientists in the UK and overseas.

The pair will focus their research on quantum metrology, which is the science of precision measurements using quantum mechanical probes, with potential uses ranging from constructing cheaper and more efficient magnetometers, accelerometers and thermometers, to measuring fundamental constants and redefining the measurement standards.

In the project Adesso and Modi will seek to understand in fair terms which quantum resources are needed to outperform classical scenarios in realistic noisy conditions.

Well done Gerardo!
