School of Mathematical Sciences

Multiple research grants awarded to school academics

The School has been successful in securing funding for six projects through the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) in recent months:

Madalin Guta has won a three year research grant with Viacheslav Belavkin, and with Juan Garrahan and Igor Lesanovsky in the School of Physics and Astronomy, “Large deviations and dynamical phase transitions in open quantum systems”.

Theo Kypraios has been awarded a first grant “Bayesian Non-Parametric Inference for Stochastic Epidemic Models" to employ a postdoctoral researcher for 12 months.

Ivette Fuentes has secured a New Directions award to extend her EPSRC fellowship and develop Relativistic Quantum Metrology. The award will allow her to employ two more research fellows, organise a workshop and cover travel and equipment costs.

Sven Gnutzmann will coordinate the Nottingham node of a research network “Analysis on Graphs” led by Malcolm Brown at Cardiff University.

Andrew Cliffe will coordinate the Nottingham node of a large consortium project “SAFE Barriers - a Systems Approach For Engineered Barriers” led by Rebecca Lunn at the University of Strathclyde.

Richard Graham is co-investigator on a first grant awarded to David de Focatis in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering “Solid-state Property Predictions of Bimodal Blends and Polydisperse Oriented Polymers (BiBOP)”.
