On the hunt for gravitational waves

Researchers in the School of Mathematical Sciences are leading a team in joining the search for elusive 'gravitational waves' by developing a device that measures vibrations in ultra-cold gases.

Drs Ivette Fuentes, Carlos Sabin and their team are working with experimental partners to design apparatus able to test their pioneering ideas. Details of the work have appeared in a recent issue of New Scientist magazine, entitled 'Desktop quantum cloud to hunt elusive space-time waves'.

The same team also appears in a recent online article in The Conversation.
