David Ross Sports Village, located at the University of Nottingham, has been used as a training facility for defending ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 champions, Australia, as they hone their preparations for their title defence over the next few weeks.
Australia Batsman, David Warner, crafted the perfect start to their World Cup defence with an unbeaten 89 against Afghanistan which led to a comfortable seven-wicket victory in Bristol. The five-time World Cup winners will be looking to build on that success as they head into next game against West Indies on Thursday at Trent Bridge.
Over the past week, the team have been based on-site, just a short walk away from the state-of-the-art High-Performance Zone at David Ross Sports Village which has played host to a number of Olympians, Paralympians and international sport stars.
The £40m facility, which opened its doors in 2016, boasts a 25m indoor-swimming pool, sports injury clinic with a heated hydrotherapy pool, ice baths and a new Finnish sauna and steam room for recovery and recuperation.
It is a huge compliment to our facilities that the Australian Cricket team are training here, and we are delighted to be hosting them. Equally it is fantastic for our students to be training in a facility alongside the World Champions.
Australia are set to play two matches at Trent Bridge. The first against West Indies on Thursday 6 June at Trent Bridge and the team will return to Nottingham on Thursday 20th June to face Bangladesh before heading to Lords to face England.
