Dr Liu taught in Warwick Business School,University of Warwick and Portsmouth Business School, University of Portsmouth before joining University of Nottingham Ningbo China in 2009.
His research interests are in the area of consumer behaviour, e-marketing and brand strategy. He is Member of the Association for Consumer Research (ACR) and European Marketing Academy (EMAC). In 2009, Martin has been appointed to an honorary role as the Associate Fellow at The University of Warwick.
Dr Liu pulishes in leading refereed Journals in the area of marketing and e-commerce including Business History, Journal of Business Research and Expert System with Applications. He has also received recognitions in teaching excellence in both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He was the recipient of Ningbo Top Teacher Award for his outstanding contributions in Teaching and Learning in 2012 and 2016, the University of Nottingham Vice-Chancellor’s Achievement Award in 2013, and the Lord Dearing Award for Teaching and Learning in 2014.
Dr Liu also has extensive teaching experiences on executive education in the UK, China and Taiwan. He also has extensive consultancy experiences in consumer markets such as Canada, China, India, Singapore, Taiwan, United Kingdom and the United States.
Prior to his academic career, he had worked in Procter and Gamble (P&G) in Canada and Unison Marketing Inc. in the United States in the area of FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) and marketing research.
