Professor Chen brings expertise on public health systems in the US and China with perspectives from health economics and health policies. He has contributed to the understanding of social determinants in China and how policies may be relevant in improving health among less privileged populations including older adults.

Consultancy and Research: Dr Chen is happy to explore opportunities to undertake consultancy and research work with external organisations.
Professor Chen has served as the President of the Chinese Economists Society (2017-o2018) and the China Health Policy and Management Society (2016-2018), two US-based organizations connecting the Chinese dispora. Professor Chen had worked closely with the China Medical Board in capacity building of health policy and system sciences in China.
Professor Chen has worked with CN Healthcare, Sina News, Wall Street Journal, Sixth Tone, and Caixin on healthcare and public health in China, particularly US-China interactions and exchanges in health and medicine.
Professor Chen works with a variety of healthcare entities, with particular interests in health technology assessment, healthcare management, and claims data analysis.
