Professor Dening is the head of the Centre for Dementia in the Institute of Mental Health at Nottingham. With over 20 years experience as a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry, he is currently an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Extensive NHS management and leadership experience, including participation in NHS Top Leaders programme and a member of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management.

Professor Denning specialises in; Older people's mental health. Dementia - clinical problems, diagnosis, treatment, support for people with dementia and their carers, services and national policy on dementia. Older people and care homes. Other mental health problems in older people including depression, bipolar disorder and suicide.

Previous media experience includes appearance on BBC Radio Nottingham, in the Time, Daily Mail and the Telegraph.
